308 | 2 April 1844 Cloe Clontz a resident of Buncombe co., N.C. aged 78; widow of George Clontz filed for widows benefits declared that she married George Clontz in Mecklenburg Co., N.C. in the summer of 1783 about the close of the Revolution. She does not have family record showing the date of her marriage or the births of her children. Instead of a license they were published in church by a minister of the gospel at the time of their marriage. Cabarrus County, N.C. Francis Single, aged 85 declared that he was well acquainted with the George Clontz and Cloe Clontz, maiden name Cline. MacDowell County, N.C. 29 Jan. 1845; Catherine Claunce (Claunch) eldest child of George and Chloe Claunch b. 1st Feb. 1785 according to the best of her knowledge has no record of her age. 311 | 30 Jul 2007 Hello, How do you think we are related. My grandfather as I said was Amburs Solomon Clonts dob 11/11/1895, he died 11/1977. My Grandmother was Delva Jane Dillard dob 5/6/1906, they were married 5/18/1932. My dad was Howard Henry Clonts dob 8/10/1942. He is the youngest child, except for Linda who died 14 days after birth. My aunts and uncles dob's I don't know. Uncle Robert has given a list of all that stuff to Janice Stokes. There was Homer Ross, Ruby Lee Ross Clonts Trapp, Irene Clonts Houston Martz, Elva Darlene Clonts Davis, Robert Clonts, Howard Clonts, and Linda. I also have a brother Howard Jeffery Clonts dob 9/22/1965. I have two children Christina Mechelle Mixon dob 12/22/1989, and Robert Henson Mixon III dob 3/07/1992. My mother is Bonnie Sue Trapp Clonts dob 8/25/1945. She had five brothers and sisters. My moms side of the family has done extensive research and I have information on them. 314 | A native of Giles County, Tennessee, Mary Rhea Beavers was the daughter of Josiah Allen Beavers, Sr. (1786-1871), a native of Virginia, and Elizabeth Braden (1790-1835) 0f Wilkes County, Georgia. She married William Thomas "Tom" McDonald (1824-1890), who was born in Robbins, Moore, North Carolina, but who moved to Florence, Lauderdale, Alabama, as a young child on March 27, 1843, in Lauderdale County, Alabama. Tom was a farmer and gunsmith who also owned a general store in Guntown, Mississippi. In 1869, when several McDonald brothers moved to Elmo, Texas, he again opened a general store. Mary and Tom McDonald were the parents of three sons and four daughters: James Henry McDonald (1843-1914) Sarah "Sallie" Catherine McDonald Bonnett (1845-1887) Mary "Mollie" Ann McDonald Rice (1848-1932) John McDonald (1848-)--John was most probably killed in the American Civil War, but several Confederate soldiers named John McDonald were. JULIA BYARS DIES AT HER HOME; FRIDAY FUNERAL Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Cantrell Byars, 73, who died at the home of her son (Robert) in Smithville, Route 1, in the 16th district of Warren County, will be conducted from the New Bildad Church at 10 o'clock Friday morning. Burial will be in the New Bildad Cemetery. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Felix Cantrell. Mrs. Byars was the widow of the late John W. Byars, who died about 18 years ago, and the daughter of the late Bob and Letta Ann Cantrell of DeKalb County. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Green Byars, of McMinnville and Bob Byars of Smithville, Route 1; and two daughters, Mrs. I. C. Jones of McMinnville, Route 1, and Mrs. Senia March of Washington, D.C. By then they had a son named, John Henry, who was born in 1870. By 1880, the family was listed in Rockcastle County, Kentucky: Ambrose 46 Leander 46 Ambrose 17 Manda 13 John 11 William 4 Lidda 2 Mary and Eliza were married by then and lived in Rockcastle County. She graduated from Decherd High School and was a secretary at Arnold Engineering Development Center in Tullahoma. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Byars of McMinnville, a U.S. Navy Veteran, and her second husband of 47 years, James W. Millsaps of Jamestown, Tennessee, a U.S. Air Force Veteran. The Millsaps lived in Tullahoma following his retirement in 1975. Mrs. Millsaps traveled the world as a supportive military spouse and mother. 350 | BESS, Robert Freeman (d. 1990) Rock Island resident Robert Ferman Bess died of a lingering illness Friday at Warren Regional Hospital. He was 72 years of age. A native of Dekalb County, he was the son of the late John and Martha Hale Bess and the husband of Eva Pearl Byars Bess, who survives. Mr. Bess was a retired supervisor at Rockford and a member of the Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert Bess, Jr. of Rock Island, three daughters Linda Gayle McBride of Tullahoma, Kathy Tugman of Signal Mountain, and Christine Cornett of Rock Island; four sisters, Madie Elrod and Lucille Bailey both of McMinnville, Ella Arnold of Arizona and Mina French of Manchester; two brothers, Truman (Red) Bess of McMinnville and Hughie Bess of Centertown; and five grandchildren.
